The building, Skyline Nail Supply, is located at 7234 Arlington Boulevard.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the store, an end unit located in a strip shopping center upon arrival. The Incident Commander struck a second alarm, bringing approximately 60 firefighters to the scene. Firefighters were challenged by the deep seated fire and the large amount of chemicals used and stored within the store. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 50 minutes. It took firefighters an additional hour to extinguish fire hot spots. Despite the volume of fire, firefighters were able to contain the fire to the one structure. Two nearby stores lost power, but service was restored several hours later. There were no injuries.

Preliminary damage is estimated at $100,000.

According fire investigators, the fire was accidental. A light fixture in the ceiling caused the fire.
