Human Relations - Ray Mason

Local 2068 Human Relations Committee is a committee that advises the local, tries to improve relations and supports organizational missions and goals on Diversity initiatives. It complement the locals mission and goals and benefits all employees, not just minorities and women.

The Human Relations Committee will try to promote Diversity and Inclusion with the local. It will ensure that all employees in the local are represented fairly, equally and without discrimination. Assist the local in handling Human Relations issues at a low level before they become grievances or litigation.

The Human Relation Committee is an organization within the local to promote understanding, respect and diversity among our members. Diversity is described as any dimension that makes individuals different from or similar to one another. Diversity not only encompasses Race and Gender,but also includes dimensions such as Personal history, Sexual Orientation, Abilities and Disabilities, Religion, Class, Geographic Origin, Professional and Educational  background.

Local 2068 Human Relation Committee stand ready to assist any and all local members with their Issues, Concerns and Complaints.We have had training in both Conflict Resolution and Mediation. We attend conferences to get training and education to better serve you the members. The IAFF  sponsors a Human Relation Conference every two years and the state of Virginia has an Equity conference every year. These conferences provide training and educations on how to handle and deal with issues of relations, i.e. Harassment, Discrimination, Unfair and Unequal Representation.
