It has only been a couple months since I have been assigned to the duties as Battalion Rep in the Firefighting Fifth Battalion.  You have all welcomed me with open arms and I appreciate that.  I only hope that I can fill the shoes of my brother Rocco Alvaro who did such a fine job for you all.  Good luck "Roc".  In just a few short days I was presented with alot of issues you all have or have had to deal with recently.  We will continue to hammer away at these to get them resolved.  I first would like you all to know that I am available to you day and night so do not hesitate to call or e-mail me.  I am committed to our new President, and his staff, and will work closely to make sure we get the best product we can on the large issues we are facing.  Around the Battalion we are experiencing alot of changes at the shop steward level.  At FS 5 Christian Waelder was promoted and is being moved from Fs5.  Technician Sean Hodgson is stepping up to take over his duties.  Tech Capps reports status quo at the "Double Duce".  I spoke with Ron Kuley about the happenings on "The Slab".  He reports that Terry Berner is stepping down and Tech Straubinger has been strong armed into assuming the duties.  Captain II Glenn Kaplan has been on injury leave since July.  Capatin Prohaska is filling in as the Commander for now.  At Fs27 there seems to be a issue about staffing the mass casualty unit.....Hmmmm more to follow.  Fire station 37 welcomes their new commander Captain II Leo "Chipper" Burt.  Anyone know why they call him "chipper"?  I thought it was because he "chipped" away at your nerves.  Any how they need a new shop steward there at the big house.  Tech Lotz has been transferred to fs 27.  Let me know if you are interested and I will sign you up.  Thats it for now.  Give me a call or e-mail me with the happenings around the station.  Also I would like to wish Deputy Chief Jeff Coffman a happy and healthy retirement.
